The Wensleydale Longwool Sheepshop lies in the heart of North Yorkshire, near Leyburn, surrounded by fields in which Wensleydale sheep graze. Their yarns are available in four weights - 4ply, DK, Aran and Aran+, but we're just stocking the Aran and 4ply for now. However, the other weights can be ordered if you want them! The 4ply comes in 50g balls with 186 yards, and the Aran is 100g/174yards.

Having decided it was time I actually used some of this delicious stuff, I have just cast on (2/8/09) Girasole, by Jared Flood.
More pictures will be added as the shawl grows. I'm using 4mm Surina dpns, ideal for the early stages as they grip the wool nicely. I can't get over how wonderfully soft this 4ply is!
Update - have finished the shawl! It's stunning. In the end it took just short of 7 balls of natural black 4ply to complete. I love it so much, I think I'm going to make another one in natural.
